“Joyous Celebration: Welcoming the Birth of a Princess in Bhutan"

With immense joy and pride, the Bjemina Nyidey Monastery in Thimphu extend our warmest felicitations on the auspicious occasion of the birth of a Princess to His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen on this historic day, September 9, 2023.

This momentous event marks a significant milestone in the history of our beloved Kingdom of Bhutan, as we welcome a new member into the Royal Family. The birth of a Princess is not just a cause for celebration within the Royal Palace but also resonates deeply with the hearts of every Bhutanese citizen. It reaffirms the continuity of our rich cultural heritage and traditions, and it strengthens the bonds of love and unity that define our unique and harmonious society.

As we rejoice in this joyous occasion, we are reminded of the love and dedication of our benevolent King and Queen towards the well-being and prosperity of our nation. Their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people are a source of inspiration for us all. This Royal birth is a testament to their deep love and devotion to Bhutan and its people.

It is also a moment to reflect upon the values of compassion, unity, and harmony that our monarchy has consistently upheld. Let us take this opportunity to renew our own commitment to these principles, ensuring that we continue to build a just and peaceful society where every citizen can thrive.

On this day, we offer our heartfelt prayers for the health, happiness, and well-being of the newborn Princess, His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and the entire Royal Family. May their lives be filled with joy and prosperity, and may their love for our nation continue to inspire us all.

In conclusion, let us come together as a nation, celebrating this moment of profound happiness and unity. The Bjemina Nyidey Monastery, along with the entire Bhutanese community, extends its warmest felicitations to His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen on this joyous occasion.

Long Live the King and Queen!

Annual Grand Mahakala Sadhana, Gutor at Nyidey Monastery from 29 November to 4 December 2021

About the Sadhana(Gutor) before the New Year(Losar). Kagyu Monasteries engage in days of protector practice, focussed mainly on Mahakala and his retinue. Given offerings and praise, they are requested to guard the teachings, protect the Sangha and keep the world safe from obstacles and whatever is inauspicious such as wars, sickness and the disturbances of the four elements. Eliminating all of these is the responsibility of Mahakala, who is the main protector for the Kagyu teachings. It is said that the Lama is the source of blessings, the Yidam deities are source of siddhist, and the protectors are the source of awakened activity. Mahakala is the main deity to supplicate for the success of the Buddha's activities, the spread of his teachings, and the benefit and protection of living beings. He is not a worldly, but a wisdom protector, a bodhisattva placed, fierce and sometimes a combination of the two. Whatever their appearance may be, the essence of the protectors is that of a bodhisattva. It is this wisdom deity and bodhisattva who is the focus of the practices during Gutor.
